BEACHES

Kali Limenes beach, Heraklion Crete

Situated some 45 kilometres far from Agia Galini, this pebbly beach is in front of the village of Kali Limenes within an amazingly beautiful natural environment. The beach is very well protected from the winds; in fact it is the only alternative for swimming in the whole are, when there are strong winds. According to the Christian tradition, it is in this place that St. Paul had stopped on his way to Rome to go to trial.

the sea is marvellous, people are few, the one or two small taverns have good fresh fish and you will meet only the locals who love this beach because it is quiet and far from mass tourism. An additional advantage is that, thanks to the high temperature, swimming is possible throughout the year, winter included. Even the swallows don't leave the area in winter!
